A MAN who stole two gold rings from a jewelry store and stabbed a store assistant has been detained, Songjiang District People’s Procuratorate said yesterday. The suspect, surnamed Zhao, walked into the shop on May 15 and asked to have a closer look at two gold rings, each worth about 10,000 yuan (US$1,611). After the shop assistant gave him the rings, Zhao ran away. The shop assistant chased him into an alley and was stabbed by Zhao.
