Thief sentenced to 20 months

A THIEF who stole a prepaid shopping card was sentenced to 20 months in prison by Jing'an District People's Court yesterday. Ma Shan stole a bag from a young couple on May 19. The bag contained 2,400 yuan (US$381), 34,000 yen (US$428), an iPhone and several used and unused prepaid shopping cards. The woman kept a shopping slip with one of the used card's card numbers, allowing police to trace it. Ma confessed and pleaded guilty in court.
