A JEWELRY store employee who stole diamonds worth 60,000 yuan (US$8,776) was jailed for two years with probation by the Putuo District People's Court yesterday.
Zhao Li, 25, was hired as a shop assistant in May 2008. But her husband was in debt, the court heard, and Zhao replaced a diamond ornament with a smaller one and swapped a diamond ring with a false one in November. When the store discovered the deception, Zhao surrendered herself to the police.
