This year鈥檚 graduates face tougher times
IT is expected that the downturn in China’s economy will impact on job prospects for this year’s university graduates, Su Ming, director of the Shanghai Education Commission, said yesterday.
A total of 178,000 university students will graduate this year in the city, about the same as last year.
But the economic situation will see some graduates find it more difficult to secure a job, Su said.
Last year, companies provided about 200,000 vacancies for local university graduates.
As a result, leading city universities reported that almost all last year’s graduates have found jobs, started further study or gone overseas.
Su said the authorities will explore job channels for graduates by working with universities.
