Three jailed for ripping off clients with fake iPhones

THREE swindlers who used fake iPhone4 models to cheat nine people out of more than 20,000 yuan were sentenced to one year in prison and fined 1,000 yuan (US$159) each, the Songjiang District People's Court said yesterday.
Prosecutors said the three men, all in their 20s, posted an ad on the Internet saying they had iPhone4 for sale and asked buyers to meet them at a Metro Line 9 station last June and July.
The three convicts said they first showed a genuine iPhone4 to a client. Once the client decided to buy, they took it back and demanded payment first, then gave the client a fake iPhone4 and fled immediately.
