POLICE squads equipped with pistols and teargas have been deployed on the Z164/3 train service, connecting Shanghai and Lhasa, as security measures have been strengthened during this week’s celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Tibet Autonomous Region. The Z164/3 service is the only train service running from east China to Tibet.
