TOUGH new work safety legislation will see employers responsible for workplace accidents fined up to 20 million yuan (US$3.2million), local authorities said yesterday. Currently, the maximum fine is 5 million yuan, local authorities said at a conference explaining the new safety law which takes effect next month. The change is one of the highlights of a tougher work safety law approved by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress in August.
