Tourists invited to get creative

PEOPLE visiting Yuyuan Garden in Huangpu District during this year’s tourism festival will be able to take part in a number of creative activities, a publicity official said yesterday.

At stores in the garden, visitors will be able to learn traditional arts, such as lantern making, cooking steamed buns and spiced beans, and creating hairpieces, the person said.

As a centerpiece for the festivities, a huge lantern resembling a blue-and-white porcelain vase will be exhibited in the garden.

This year’s Shanghai tourism festival runs from September 13 until October 6. The events at Yuyuan Garden start on Wednesday and end on October 7.

Meanwhile, the Huangpu government said it will stage a nightly 3D light show at Cool Docks, close to the Bund, from September 14 until October 23.
