SHANGHAI police have developed a smartphone application that allows officers to check suspicious vehicles and drivers even when they are off duty, officials from the traffic department said yesterday.
Previously, information was stored in devices such as a PDA which had to be handed in at the end of a shift. The app now allows officers to check such things as car plates and scan the QR code of licenses.
