Trafficker accused

A drug addict who allegedly carried 6 kilograms of methamphetamine in his suitcase to sell and was caught on his way back to Shanghai stood trial yesterday, the Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People’s Court heard.

Gu Min, 33, got the drugs in Guangdong Province on September 28 last year and attempted to take them back to Shanghai, the court said. Traveling in an unlicensed cab, Gu was caught at a police checkpoint. The court didn't give a ruling. Under Chinese law, carrying more than 50 grams of methamphetamine can bring the death sentence.
