Transportation tops list of complaints
TRANSPORTATION topped the list of complaints during the weeklong National Day holiday, which ended yesterday.
The Shanghai Administration for Industry and Commerce said it received 1,494 complaints — a rise of 31 percent — during the holiday.
Among them, 192 were related to traffic and transportation, a jump of 88 percent from the same period of last year. A total of 142 complaints were about shared bikes.
The administration said the bike-sharing operators’ refusal to return deposits, disputes over charge, bike breakdown and poor aftersales services were the major irritants.
A rider said his bike did not work due to electric power shortage, but much to his ire he was charged. Another consumer claimed an online air ticket booking dispute ruined his plans.
In addition, 118 disputes had to do with accommodation and catering, and 78 over cultural matters and sports, a rise of 48 percent and 92 percent, respectively.
A traveler was told that there was no room despite booking one for more than 6,500 yuan (US$950) at a resort in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province.
There was over 70 percent of complaints about aftersales services, the administration said.
