Trio imprisoned for stealing and selling mopeds in Pudong

THREE people were sentenced to prison for stealing and selling 15 mopeds valued more than 23,000 yuan (US$3,644), the Pudong District People's Court said today.
Two thieves surnamed Hu and Peng were given three-year and three-year-plus-three-month jail terms for thefts, while the third convict surnamed Chen was sentenced to six months and fined 1,000 yuan for selling the stolen mopeds.
Hu and Peng stole the mopeds parked in residential complexes, supermarkets and parking lots in Chuansha New Town in Pudong between June 14 and June 23 last year.
They put the stolen mopeds in a van and sold them to Chen, the court heard.
The three men were arrested on June 24. The court said Chen had returned 9,443 yuan of his illegal money to the victims.
