Two killed, five injured in wee-hours expressway crash near Pudong airport

Two were killed and five others injured in a single-car crash in wee hours today on a highway near Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

The crash involving a seven-seat vehicle took place around 4am on the S1 Expressway near the airport, Shanghai Television reported.

The report said two victims flew out of the car, fell down the elevated highway and died. Five others on the car were injured and rushed to hospital.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.

The city has been having lingering rains for days lately.
