Unmarried woman arrested for choking newborn to death

A WOMAN who gave birth in a toilet and then suffocated the baby with a hair ribbon has been arrested, Pudong New Area prosecutors said yesterday.
The women, 20, surnamed Lu, worked at a high-end restaurant in Pudong. She delivered the baby on March 14. Afraid of being noticed by her colleagues, Lu took off her hair ribbon and wound it tightly around the baby’s neck, eastday.com reported. She then dumped the baby into a trash can. Lu, who is not married, told police she had been to the hospital for abortion but was told by doctors she was seven-month pregnant.
