Vending machines for volunteers

VENDING machines that allow volunteers to exchange work credits for refreshments have been introduced at 12 hospitals in the city, the Shanghai Public Service Foundation for Volunteers said yesterday.
Once they have registered on a public account called Shanghai Volunteer Incentives Platform on WeChat, the instant messaging service, volunteers can obtain products from the vending machines by scanning a code generated by the platform.
People can also use the machines to register as volunteers at Shanghai Volunteers Association or make a donation.
There are over 1.8 million registered volunteers in Shanghai and the working hours they contribute in their philanthropic work are registered in their digital service profiles.
