Violent jaywalker jailed
A female jaywalker who used a high-heel shoe to attack traffic police officers who had stopped her was sentenced to six months in jail for disturbing public order, the Putuo District People’s Court said yesterday. According to prosecutors, the woman, surnamed Lin, was observed jaywalking at a crossroad in Putuo District by a traffic police officer surnamed Chen on April 19. When Chen tried to stop her, Lin took off one of her high-heel shoes and used it to hit his arm. Chen’s colleague Liu, who came to help him, suffered an injury to his right hand.
The court also recently sentenced an unlicensed tricycle rider who had illegally offered transport services to one year in prison.
