Walkway to link Metro, stores

CONSTRUCTION of a new skywalk in Minhang District that will connect Lianhua Road subway station to a cluster of shopping malls is under way, the local government said yesterday.
The 1.2 kilometer circular walkway, which is scheduled for completion at the end of next year, will be similar to the one already in operation in the Lujiazui commercial district of the Pudong New Area, it said.
The project, which is expected to cost 161 million yuan (US$25 million), will link the Line 1 station to the Friendship Shopping Center, Brilliance South Shopping Mall, Lianhua International Plaza and other properties currently under construction.
