Walmart’s kids’ bikes come under scrutiny

The city’s quality watchdog is investigating claims that the children’s bicycles on sale at a Walmart outlet in Yangpu District have labeling problems and are not 3C (China compulsory certification) approved.

In one case, the actual size of an Emmelle bike, on sale for 599 yuan (US$97) at the Wujiaochang outlet, was not as stated on its label, while the product’s 3C information could not be found in the national product certification database. Walmart and the bicycle’s manufacturer have been ordered by authorities to provide the relevant certificates.
