Warm days will return this week

Warmer days are expected to return this week under mostly cloudy skies, forecasters said yesterday.

The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said temperatures will be above 30 degrees Celsius during the week. Today the mercury was forecast to range between 24 and 31 degrees. Tomorrow will reach a high of 33 degrees, the bureau said.

The temperature will likely hit 32 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.

There is a chance of afternoon thundershowers tomorrow and Wednesday. Rain is also likely on Friday, according to the bureau.

Wu Rui, a chief service officer at the bureau, said the warm weather this week does not indicate an Indian summer.

“If it was 35 degrees or more for several days during the beginning and middle of September, then we could say there is an Indian summer,” according to Wu.
