Will鈥檚 gym flayed over refunds

A GYM is drawing the ire of its members who complained they were being charged a 30-percent fee for a refund after one of the outlets shuts down.

Some members of the Will’s gym at the Golden Eagle Square outlet said the gym had rejected their request for a refund of private coaching courses they had paid for. The members were also offered an upgrade of their fitness cards which they were not keen for.

The gym then said it would charge them 30 percent for the refund demanded by the members, which infuriated them.

Juliette He, a white collar worker, who has about 5,000 yuan (US$806) left unused for the private courses at the outlet, said her demand for refund was rejected.

“I was told that I can not get a refund but was offered other upgrades for free, which did not interest me.

They said they will refund the portion that involves using the gym facilities which cost me 1,000 yuan, but will deduct 30 percent from it,” He said.

The Shanghai Morning Post reported yesterday that another member, surnamed Lei, who had at least 10,000 yuan left in his card, said he was asked to change another card which can be used in other outlets of the gym.
