Woman dies after liposuction

OFFICIALS at a hospital in Shanghai are awaiting the results of a police investigation into the death of a patient following what should have been routine cosmetic surgery.
The 29-year-old woman, surnamed Huang, underwent a liposuction procedure at the Shanghai Elikeme Medical Cosmetology Hospital on Saturday.
During the procedure, however, she began to feel ill and was transferred to another facility for emergency treatment.
By the time she arrived Huang was dead, xinmin.cn reported.
Zhang Lixin, an official at Elikeme, said Huang’s procedure was conducted in line with the proper guidelines.
Police said yesterday they are investigating the case.
