Woman gives birth in restroom

A WOMAN who gave birth to a baby boy in a public restroom yesterday morning is recuperating in hospital.
The unnamed woman,25, entered the toilet block, near the Hongqiao Road Metro station, at 11:30am.
After noticing she had spent longer than average in the cubicle, a staff member knocked on the door to ask if she needed any help.
The worker also saw a trail of blood coming from inside the cubicle. Despite the woman claiming it was due to her having her period, the worker became worried and called police.
Officers arrived and forced open the door to find the woman and her newborn baby. They were taken to Shanghai No. 6 People’s Hospital, where staff later told Shanghai Daily they were both doing fine.
Police said they have begun an investigation into the incident.
