Woman is stabbed to death

A 34-YEAR-OLD woman was stabbed to death yesterday while at work in an office on Shimen No. 1 Road in Jing’an District, police announced via Weibo.
A 58-year-old man, who is believed to be a colleague of the victim, has been detained in connection with the killing, the microblog post said.
Police were alerted to an incident at the offices of watchmaker Seiko on the fifth floor of Want Want Plaza at 2:26pm and arrived at the scene, along with an ambulance crew, soon after, the post said.
It contained no details of what happened inside the building, but said that a man was detained at the scene and that a woman was found to have been stabbed to death.
A second woman, aged 29, was treated for minor knife wounds, it said.
When Shanghai Daily tried to get access to Seiko’s offices yesterday they were found to be closed. Calls to its headquarters went unanswered.
A woman who works in a neighboring office said she heard a scream, but didn’t think the matter was serious until the police and medics arrived.
An investigation is under way.
