JIN Qiang, a migrant worker, was jailed for 11 years at Songjiang District People's Court yesterday for attempted robbery and taking a four-year-old girl hostage.
Jin, 26, had sneaked into the room to look for money but when the landlord woke up, Jin held a knife at the neck of the landlord's granddaughter, demanding 20,000 yuan (US$2,928).
