Workers fear taking leave
MORE than half of the city’s workers are missing out on their annual leave, the Shanghai Statistics Bureau said.
In a poll of 804 people, 56 percent said they hadn't taken their full entitlement in the past three years, of which 59 said they were too busy and 42 percent said they feared taking a break would affect their careers. The poll also said 95 percent of people who work for foreign firms had had paid leave in the past three years, of which 61 percent had taken their full entitlement. More than 92 percent of people who work for state-owned enterprises said they had taken paid leave.
