Workplace deaths top 1,000

IN the year through November, 1,028 people were killed in 6,509 workplace accidents, the Shanghai Work Safety Administration said yesterday. The totals were 2 percent and 40 percent lower than the corresponding figures from last year. A total of 18 people were killed in the worst five accidents in the period, the administration said. These totals were also lower than last year because of better inspections.
