World Cities Day book

A BOOK compiled by the Information Office of Shanghai Municipality to introduce the first World Cities Day on October 31 has been published in Chinese, English and French. Initiated in a declaration on October 31, 2010, to mark the closing day of the Shanghai World Expo 2010, October 31 was designated as World Cities Day by the United Nations General Assembly last year. This designation is expected to promote sustainable development in cities around the world and further cooperation among countries in meeting opportunities and challenges in urbanization, the book states. The first World Cities Day takes the theme “Leading Urban Transformations.”
