An alert will be issued to the city’s police and medical authorities to prepare for emergencies when an excessively large number of people enter, an official with the Wujiaochang Sub-district said.

The system will also share the data it collects with shopping malls in the area to help them to adjust their business planning in according with consumers’ interests, he added.

In addition to the new system, the newly renovated plaza will feature ponds, exhibitions, traffic information touch screens and machines for paying utility bills.

Part of the plaza has been closed for the renovation.

Meanwhile, the district has opened the city’s first solar-powered electric vehicle charging station near Metro Line 10’s New Jiangwan City Station. It can charge 10 electric vehicles simultaneously, a process that takes about 3.5 hours. The charges have yet to be announced.

The station is connected to the city’s power grid so it can receive electricity on cloudy days and send an abundant supply back to the grid on sunny days, the official added.
