Youth ‘stole smartphones’

A juvenile suspected of stealing five smartphones and nearly 20,000 yuan (US$3,000) from a China Mobile outlet in Songjiang District has been arrested for burglary, according to Songjiang People’s Procuratorate.
Prosecutors said the suspect surnamed Wang, described as being under the age of 18, broke into the outlet via a window at 7pm on May 7.
He is accused of using a towel to cover a surveillance camera, stealing five smartphones and to have taken a safety box to his home and forcing it open to obtain about 20,000 yuan in cash. He later threw the empty box into a river, prosecutors said.
