‘Zombie car’ with 14 parking tickets pasted on it creates a buzz online
Pictures of a worn-out minivan with 14 parking tickets pasted on it have gone viral and led to criticism from Netizens, who complained that traffic police failed to do their duty.
A report by the local News Television showed the dilapidated minivan with a Zhejiang car plate with 14 parking tickets pasted on it on the intersection of Hualing and Lingshi roads. The report said the vehicle was abandoned and lying unused for a long time. It was covered in heavy dust. The tires had nearly come off the wheel structures and the car door was left unlocked.
The TV station said the earliest notice was already worn-out but the latest one was issued only on Tuesday. And on May 26, in just over 20 minutes, both Baoshan District traffic police and their counterpart in Putuo District had slapped notices on the car, the said.
Some Netizens criticized the police and said the “zombie car” should have been towed away by now.
Illegal parking is one of the most rampant traffic offenses in the city.
On Tuesday, traffic police had to deploy 12 tow trucks to impound illegally parked cars around hospitals, schools and government buildings as part of the crackdown on traffic violators in the city.
