‘Zombie’ vehicles removed
POLICE towed away 43 “zombie cars” in different parts of Pudong yesterday, most of them parked in suburban areas. The cars had been left on street parking slots for months on end.
On Yinfeng Road in the east, six cars were removed, including a semi-trailer without a tractor that was left occupying three parking slots outside a former logistics company.
The semi-trailer had been abandoned for six months, said one observer. On Yinghua Road near Shanghai New International EXPO Center, a white minivan that had been used for storing chairs for a restaurant nearby, was towed away. A worker from the restaurant said the vehicle had been parked there for two to three months.
