Han Zheng, Antony Blinken talk closer cooperation
进一步拓展各领域务实合作 韩正会见美国常务副国务卿布林肯一行

SHANGHAI Party Secretary Han Zheng met with US Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken yesterday and said Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to the US last month was fruitful. The two countries are building a new type of relationship.

Han said Shanghai is steadfast in carrying out reforms and complying with market rules and international standards. The Shanghai Free Trade Zone has made big progress after two years of operation. China’s first negative list for foreign investment was adopted in Shanghai.

The Party leader remarked that Shanghai is the sister city of San Francisco and Chicago. Many American businesses have developed well in Shanghai. Many members of the International Business Leaders Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai are American corporate leaders. He said China and the US should extend cooperation to all fields.

Blinken said his government speaks highly of President Xi Jinping’s visit to the US. He is visiting China to work with the Chinese side to bring agreements made by the two presidents in Washington DC into fruition. These fruits will not only benefit China and the US, but also other countries in the world.

Blinken said Shanghai is a dynamic city. He was impressed by its enterprising and creative spirit. He hopes American companies can find new growth opportunities in Shanghai.

Shanghai Vice Mayor Tu Guangshao and US Ambassador to China Max Baucus joined the meeting.
