Han Zheng, US ambassador talk about FTZ and bilateral ties
韩正见美大使：上海自贸区建设已取得很大进展

SHANGHAI Party Secretary Han Zheng met Max Baucus, the US ambassador to China, and his group yesterday. He briefed them on the city’s social and economic development and the construction of Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone.
Han said Shanghai is pushing for reforms in the free trade zone to further facilitate investment and trade. Domestic and overseas enterprises will be treated equally in the zone and good practices in the zone will be copied across the country.
The Shanghai FTZ has achieved a lot during one year of operation, he added.
Han said the good Sino-US relationship is vital for both countries and the whole world. Shanghai has strong business ties with many American cities. Both countries can benefit greatly from fruitful exchanges.
Baucus said he was impressed by China’s development and Shanghai’s prosperity. The Chinese government has done a good job promoting infrastructure construction, environmental protection and food safety.
The ambassador said the Shanghai FTZ is drawing worldwide attention. He hoped the two countries can step up exchanges and cooperation for mutual development.
