Han Zheng talks with Apple’s Tim Cook
为创新创业者提供更大舞台 韩正会见苹果公司首席执行官库克

SHANGHAI Party Secretary Han Zheng met with visiting Apple Inc. Chief Executive Tim Cook yesterday. He said Shanghai needs new energy for growth and will offer a bigger stage for young people and technology start-ups.

Han said each country has its own culture. The spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation must be rooted in the country’s realities and culture. Shanghai is working hard to become a global innovation center and promises more opportunities for business starters, particularly young innovators.

The Party boss said Apple has an impressive history of innovation and its name has become synonymous with innovation. He hoped the US-based technology company can grow with Shanghai.

Cook said Shanghai’s rapid development is one of the miracles in the world history of urbanization. He can feel the city’s energy anywhere he goes. Shanghai is a great place to realize dreams.

Cook said that since Apple opened its China operation center and business center in Shanghai in 2001, the company has grown with the city.

He vowed that the company, while continuing its commitment to research and development, will spare no efforts to become a responsible corporate citizen with more focus on environmental protection and sustainable growth and be a role model in the sector.
