Han Zheng urges utilization of social resources in innovation
韩正赴上海交大调研指出营造更好环境激发全社会创新创造活力

SHANGHAI Party Secretary Han Zheng did a field study in Shanghai Jiao Tong University yesterday to learn about tapping social resources in innovation.
He said Shanghai should break down barriers between government, educational institutions and enterprises and mobilized resourses and creativity of the entire society to develop technologies and innovations.
Jiao Tong University Party Secretary Jiang Sixian and President Zhang Jie briefed Han on the school’s achievements in reform, scientific research and innovation. They also made suggestions for Shanghai to become a global innovation center.
Han listened carefully and asked questions from time to time. He said China has passed the stage of high economic growth and has entered the period of moderate economic growth. Shanghai is turning into an innovation-driven economy with an emphasis on quality and efficiency.
He said Shanghai should speed up commercialization of new technologies. The government should not meddle with the market. Universities, scientific institutions and enterprises should cooperate with each other in innovation. He praised Jiao Tong University for making contributions to Shanghai’s development.
The Party boss then inspected the school’s laboratories and saw the ultra-HD television and super materials it developed for aerospace, shipbuilding and automobile industries.
Yin Hong, secretary general of the CPC Shanghai Committee, accompanied Han Zheng in the visit.
