Mayor meets New Development Bank officials

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met a New Development Bank delegation led by president-elect K. V. Kamath last Wednesday. He said he was pleased that the bank of BRICS states located its headquarters in Shanghai and he pledged full support and services for the bank.
Yang said the city is accelerating the construction of Shanghai Free Trade Zone and has adopted new policies for financial reform to make itself an international financial center. He believed these measures will contribute to the future operation of New Development Bank.
The mayor noted that preparation for the opening of New Development Bank is going on smoothly. The Shanghai government will spare no effort to assist the NDB to build its headquarters building and create a nice environment for the bank.
Kamath thanked Shanghai for giving full support to the bank’s preparation work and said the bank will start operation soon.
The NDB president-elect said he wants to improve communication with Shanghai authorities and cooperate closely to make the bank’s building a high-quality, environment-friendly modern office building.
The bank’s vice president-elect, Zhu Xian, and the Indian Consul General to Shanghai, Naveen Srivastava, were present at the meeting.
