Mayor meets official delegation from Hualien, Taiwan
为沪台合作搭建新平台 杨雄会见台湾花莲县县长

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met Fu Kun-chi, mayor of Hualien County in Taiwan and his delegation last Friday and extended warm welcome to them for attending this year’s Shanghai-Taiwan Seminar.

Yang briefed the guests on Shanghai’s efforts to become an international center of economy, finance, trade and shipping as well as developments in Shanghai Free Trade Zone and the city’s endeavor to become a global innovation center.

Yang said Shanghai and Hualien have cooperated well in trade, culture and agriculture. This helped to promote mutual understanding and friendship between their people.

The mayor said Shanghai wants to expand cooperation and exchanges with Taiwan as it tries to develop into a global innovation center.

He noted that Hualien is rich in tourism resources and is advanced in modern agriculture and health care services. Shanghai is keen to strengthen ties with Hualien.

Fu Kun-chi said Hualien has beautiful scenery and good ecosystem which impress many tourists from the mainland. Hualien wants to boost exchanges with Shanghai to build people-to-people relationship and promote economic, trade and cultural cooperation.

Shanghai officials Sha Hailin and Wang Xinkui were present at the meeting.
