Mayor meets the boss of Zeiss Group from Germany
冀更多跨国企业开放合作 杨雄会见德国蔡司集团主席

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met Michael Kaschke, president and CEO of Zeiss Group, on September 14. He congratulated the German optical and medical equipment producer for moving its China headquarters to Shanghai Free Trade Zone.

Yang said the Shanghai FTZ is a testing ground for China’s reform and opening policies. Shanghai is conducting a series of institutional reform and innovation to facilitate investment and trade and to further open up the financial sector.

The mayor told the guests that Shanghai is making innovation a public movement and is accelerating its pace to become a global innovation center. Shanghai wants to cooperate with foreign multinationals in innovation. He said he is glad to see Zeiss Group setting up its R&D center in Shanghai in 2012 and working closely with its Chinese partners.

Yang said he hopes more multinational corporations can run R&D centers in cooperation with Shanghai universities, companies and research institutions.

Kaschke said he was impressed by Shanghai’s fast development. The Shanghai FTZ has created new opportunities for Zeiss Group. He promised to use the Shanghai FTZ as a platform to cooperate with Shanghai companies for better business development.
