Party chief meets Allianz, Fiat Chrysler bosses

SHANGHAI Party Secretary Han Zheng met Allianz SE chairman and CEO, Michael Diekmann, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles chairman, John Elkann, on November 3. He thanked them for making suggestions for Shanghai Free Trade Zone at the meeting of the International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for Shanghai mayor.

Han said the council meeting was very successful. All council members were active in discussion, shared their views and gave good advices. Their suggestions will help the Shanghai FTZ to plan well its next phase of development.

Han said the FTZ has attained its initial targets after one year of operation and will plan its second phase of development. It will continue to shorten the negative list for foreign investment, reduce administrative restrictions, and open up more services to foreign investors.

Han said that next year’s council meeting will focus on speeding up Shanghai’s transformation into a global innovation center. The city needs to learn more about the management style, innovation incentives and entrepreneurial spirit of companies represented by the council members.

Han said the Shanghai government will continue to provide support and services to foreign companies that have investment in the city.

Diekmann and Elkann spoke highly of this year’s council meeting and said they want to get more involved in the construction of Shanghai Free Trade Zone.
