促上海与韩国各城市友好交往 韩正会见韩国超党派国会议员代表团

SHANGHAI Party Secretary Han Zheng yesterday met a group of South Korean legislators led by the Saenuri Party speaker Seo Cheong-won.

Han briefed the guests on Shanghai’s economic and social development and said China and South Korea have built mutual trust and increased cooperation and exchanges since they established diplomatic ties more than 20 years ago.

Shanghai has extensive exchanges with South Korea, particularly with its sister city Busan. Many South Koreans are living, working and studying in Shanghai, Han said.

He hoped the visit of South Korean legislators will further boost bilateral relationship.

Seo said the frequent meetings between two nations’ leaders have strengthened the bilateral ties. He was impressed on this trip by Shanghai’s development and achievements.

He thanked the Shanghai government for protecting and restoring the former site of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea in the city during the Japanese occupation of the Korean peninsula.

Seo said he wants to make more contributions to the South Korea-China relationship and promote the exchange and cooperation between South Korean cities and Shanghai.
