上海曼谷友好合作签约 杨雄会见曼谷市长素坤潘

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met his Bangkok counterpart, Prince Sukhumbhand Paribatra, and his delegation yesterday and they signed a letter of intent for cooperation between their cities.

Yang said China and Thailand have enjoyed a long history of friendly relationship, which was recently upgraded to comprehensive strategic partnership, signaling more exchanges and cooperation between the two nations.

He said Bangkok is the political and economic center of Thailand and one of the world’s major tourist destinations. Shanghai is keen to expand cooperation and exchanges with Bangkok in trade, science and technology, culture and urban management.

Yang told the guests that Shanghai is striving to become an international center of economy, finance, trade and shipping. It faces the same challenges as Bangkok in traffic congestion and urban pollutions. He hoped the two cities can learn from each other and prosper together.

Paribatra said Shanghai is a great city. Exchanges and cooperation can not only boost the economy of both cities but also contribute to Thailand-China friendship.

He said the signing of the letter of intent will lead to more exchanges and cooperation between the two cities and serve as a prelude to the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China.

Thai Consul General in Shanghai Buskorn Prugsapongse joined the meeting.
