Shanghai Party chief meets German delegation
推动双方深入合作实现双赢 韩正会见德国莱法州副州长兼经济部长

SHANGHAI Party Secretary Han Zheng met Eveline Lemke, deputy prime minister and minister of economy, climate change, energy and regional development of Rhineland-Palatinate State in Germany, on Monday.

Han said Shanghai has a long-term close relationship with several German cities and states and is a sister city of Hamburg. Germany is a world leader in applying Internet-based technologies in real economy and has achieved encouraging results. Germany’s experiences are worth learning.

He said Shanghai is striving to become a global innovation center and is pursuing innovation-driven economic growth. However, there is still a bottleneck in the conversion of new technologies into productivity and the city needs to strengthen the protection of intellectual properties.

Han said Lemke’s visit can promote mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries, particularly the cooperation between Shanghai and Rhineland-Palatinate.

Lemke said her delegation tries to gain a better understanding of China and Shanghai through this visit. They are interested in the country's “Made in China 2025” strategy and Shanghai’s efforts to create better environment for innovation and to protect intellectual properties.

She said the delegation will encourage more companies in her state to cooperate with Chinese companies in Shanghai for mutual business growth.
