Shanghai mayor meets Cameroon PM
上海愿与非洲国家加强合作 杨雄会见喀麦隆总理菲勒蒙

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong welcomed the visit of Cameroon Prime Minister Philémon Yang at a meeting on Saturday and briefed African guests on Shanghai’s development and its efforts to become an international center of economy, finance, trade and shipping as well as a global innovation center.

Yang said China and Cameroon enjoy friendly relationship. Cameroon’s participation in World Expo 2010 Shanghai strengthened mutual understanding between the two nations. Shanghai people are big fans of the Cameroon football team.

He said Shanghai is keen to increase trade and economic cooperation with African countries and share its reform and development experiences with Cameroon. The Shanghai government will encourage local companies to invest in Cameroon and participate in development there.

Philémon Yang said Cameroon and China have long-term friendship and active exchanges and cooperation. Shanghai’s experience in reform and opening is worth learning. He welcomes Shanghai companies and Chinese companies as a whole to invest in Cameroon.

The prime minister said he hoped his visit can open a new chapter in fruitful cooperation between Cameroon and Shanghai.

Cameroon Ambassador to China Martin Mpana and Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon Wei Wenhua were present at the meeting.
