Shanghai mayor meets Czech Parliament delegation

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met Jan Hamá膷ek, speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, and the Czech Parliament delegation yesterday.
Yang thanked Czech for participating in the China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair as the “Guest of Honor” country. He said China and Czech enjoy long-term friendship. Shanghai and Czech capital Prague have signed a memorandum to become sister cities.
The mayor said Czech has a great culture, a strong manufacturing industry, and many science and technology institutions. Shanghai is striving to become an international center of economy, finance, trade and shipping as well as a global innovation center. The two sides can cooperate in many fields, including health, tourism and culture.
Yang said Hamá膷ek’s visit will help boost bilateral exchange and cooperation.
Hamá膷ek said the Shanghai technology fair is a good platform for Czech to showcase its modern technologies and cultural riches in addition to forging ties between governments and companies. Increased cooperation will benefit both countries.
Czech ambassador to China Libor Secka also attended the meeting.
