Yang Xiong meets mayor of Dunedin, New Zealand
“创意城市网络”合作潜力大 杨雄会见新西兰达尼丁市市长一行

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met his Dunedin counterpart, Dave Cull, and his delegation from New Zealand on Friday.

Yang told the guests that Shanghai is implementing cooperation agreements between the two cities, which are both members of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Shanghai is keen to enhance cooperation with Dunedin in culture and creative industries.

He said Shanghai is building itself into a global financial center and is conducting comprehensive education reform. He is glad to see cooperation and exchanges among different types of schools in Shanghai and Dunedin.

The mayor pledged more support for cooperation with Dunedin in science and education and in tackling challenges in global warming and food safety.

Cull said the two cities have carried out deep and broad cooperation in many fields and enjoyed growing friendship since they became sister cities 22 years ago.

He said Dunedin is keen to increase cooperation with Shanghai in culture, creative industries, science, education, commerce and tourism.
