Yang Xiong meets visiting Peruvian president
发挥产业优势多领域合作 杨雄会见秘鲁总统

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski of Peru and his delegation at Xingguo Hotel on Thursday.

Yang said the China-Peru relationship developed well in recent years and there has been a frequent exchange of high-level visits. The two countries signed a free trade agreement and established a comprehensive strategic partnership. These laid a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation.

He said Shanghai has signed a letter of intent with Lima, the capital of Peru, on cooperation in trade, transportation and tourism. He believed the president’s visit boost the Sino-Peruvian relationship to a new height.

The mayor said Shanghai is bent on turning itself into an international center of economy, finance, trade and shipping. The city hopes to expand cooperation with Peru in more areas.

Yang said Shanghai and Peru have huge potentials in economic and trade cooperation. The Shanghai government welcomes foreign companies, including those from Peru, to invest and operate in the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone.

Kuczynski said he was very happy to visit China and Shanghai immediately after he became the Peruvian president. The Chinese people used their wisdom to change their country and influence the world in the past few decades.

He said Peru wants to learn from China and Shanghai’s experiences and strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchanges in agriculture, mining, telecommunications and culture.
