Yang Xiong talks with Lord Mayor of London

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met the Lord Mayor of London, Fiona Woolf, on Monday. He said two cities have enjoyed friendly relationship since 1996 and fruitful cooperation in many fields.
Yang said Shanghai is striving to become an international financial center and London has rich experiences in financial market construction and administration which are worth learning for Shanghai.
Financial opening and innovation are key components of the city’s ongoing reforms, said the mayor, adding that Shanghai is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with London in various fields.
Woolf made a general introduction about her city and said both London and Shanghai regard the financial industry as the major driver of their economic growth.
She said London in recent years conducted exchanges and cooperation with Shanghai in multiple fields and her administration expects more cooperation opportunities brought by the Shanghai Free Trade Zone.
