2 killed, 55 injured in gas explosion in Hangzhou

Two people were killed and 55 injured in a gas explosion this morning in Hangzhou City, east China’s Zhejiang Province.

The gas explosion happened in a street-side store at 8:40am in Xihu District, district government said.

The powerful blast ripped off the store and shattered glasses of passing vehicles and buses.

Among the injured, 12 were in critical condition. They have been sent to hospitals for treatment.

The fire has been put out.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
