Beijing metro failure: Passengers trapped
MORE than 100 passengers were trapped on a metro train for more than an hour in Beijing after a power failure this morning, the China News Service reported.
The train was entering the Changchunjie Station on Metro Line 2 at around 9am when the electricity for the inner ring of the line from Xuanwumen Station to Fuxingmen Station was cut.
The train stopped about 10 meters short of the platform.
Police cordoned off the platform and metro maintenance workers rushed to the site while metro operators organized seven temporary trains to transport waiting passengers.
At around 10:30am the electricity supply and the metro service resumed. One old woman said the carriage was very stuffy and she had nearly fainted.
