CHINA yesterday welcomed the United States to play a more constructive role for the peace, stability and development of the Asia-Pacific region.
In response to a question at a Foreign Ministry news briefing on how China views US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's Asia tour, ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said: "China heeded Clinton's speech at the Asia Society on the US Asian-Pacific policy, which laid stress on engagement with Asian countries so as to initiate a new era of partnership."
